Flextension
In What Way Might We (IWWMW) create a durable, adjustable, and ergonomic tool for holding up electronic devices?
In the spring of 2017, I learned the importance of asking IWWMW questions as the starting point for ideation. This is the problem my teammates and I addressed by creating the Flextension. We used the design thinking process to ideate, prototype, and ultimately “sell” our product at a design fair.
The course used an iterative process in which there were multiple rounds of eliminations and subsequent joining of teams.
After the first round of elimination, my idea remained and I gained a teammate.
After another round of elimination, we gained two new teammates.
Once our prototype was finalized, I drew a schematic (left) and assembly drawing (right) to show the materials we would need to make each of the parts.
I was responsible for modeling the parts in SolidWorks and creating the pieces using a Laser Cutter and came up with the idea to use scrap metal for the base.
